Fractions

Fractions are one whole thing Divided into equal pieces .

Frations have two parts, the numerator and the denomirator.

The denominator tells the size of the fraction. The numerator shows how pieces there are.

An exaple is five eights

The fractions size is eights,

so the denomintor is eight there are five pieces, so the numerator is five .

see below for example

Inquiry

This week, our company (Life Savers) brainstormed ideas for an emergency shelter design. We needed to think of the structural shape and design of the emergency shelter. We also needed to think about what our shelter will be designed to resist.

First, we sketched on a piece of paper of what shape we're doing for our emergency shelter, and my group picked a triangle. This is because a triangle have sharp points and it can make things slide down from it

Next we used a software called sketchup to make a 3d design of our shelter. Sketchup is a program that allows people to design and create anything they want in three dimensions.

We decided to make the shelter out of tungsten because it is strong and brick because it is thick. We think these are suitable materials for water and wind natural disasters.

Some changes that we want to make are making the shelter big because it looks small and want to make the inside spacious so that we can put that things we need to survive

The size of the entrance is 2.15 meters and the size of the shelter is 3.45 meters just in case of an emergency. The walls of our shelter are pretty thick because the shelter is made out of tungsten brick. There should be windows so that the people inside the emergency shelter are aware of what is happening and can identify if it is safe to exit the emergency shelter. The windows should be fairly big, about 2 meters so that people can see out of them clearly.

Reading

Governing topics are about political parties who want to lead the country. The important topics to me are Education and Transport and infrastructure.
Education is about learning and trying new things to get more knowledge.
Transport and infrastructure is about how parties want to upgrade transport and the roads and bridges so to lessen traffic.
I chose Transport and infrastructure because my parents use their vehicles to go places and take relatives and friends and specially me to school

L.I: To choose important governing topics by understanding the goverment policies and services.

Inquiry

This week, we found hazards, risks, and the likelihood of those risks in an activity that we did in real life. The activities that we did were making a fire and cooking smores with the fire.

First we started by discussing the circumstances of the activities. Some of the circumstances were: we were using a brazier, we would like the fire at 11pm the fire would be lit on concrete, and there is good enough weather for the fire to be lit.

Next, we talked about the hazards and risks, and wrote the consequences. Then we found out ways we could prevent those consequences from happening, and wrote down what would happen if those consequences elevated.

We did the same process for making smores over the fire.

Once the fire was lit, we were given a demonstration of how the marshmallows should be cooked. There were three marshmallows on a skewer and the skewer was to be held vertically through the gaps of the brazier. We then added chocolate sauce and crackers to complete the smores. and we did it with our hands.

This activity was really interesting. We were told to be very careful and follow instructions to prevent accidents to happen. I injoyed this activity very much.

Friday 18 September 2020

Inquiry

This activity was about making a safety plan.

First, we recaped what a hazerd and the different risk levels. A hazard is the object that can cause harm and the risk is the chance of that object causing harm. The risk levels are low, likely, possible, elevated, and extreme.

Then we wrote our own safety plan on a simple activity. We wrote down what the activity was, the class level the number of helpers, the number students and where the location of that activity. for every ten students, there is one helper.

LI: To assess risk with in asimple activity.

The Gruffalo

LI- To re write a narrative

I re wrote the Gruffalo story I only had to change the fox in to nine tails and then I chaneged the food to nine tail soap and I changed the underground house to deep dark cave.

Making Connections

LI: to compare products using reciprocal reading.
LI: To make connections

How to make a connections. there are three connections;

text to text , text to self, text to world

Text to text is comparing a text to another simaller text that you are reading.

Text to self is when we connect the text to our experinces.

Text to world is comparing the connect to the out side world.\

Thursday 10 September 2020

Inquiry

This activity is based around understanding the possible risks that different circumstances can cause, and identifying how likely that risk is to happen.

First, we discussed the five different levels of likelihood. They are: low, likely, possible, elevated and extreme.

Then, we were given a range of different situations that have a possibility of risks. We identified how likely the risks were to happen by using the five different levels of likelihood. We also listed risks that could happen.

After that, we came up with our own situations and discussed the likelihood of a risk. Then we wrote down the risks that could happen.

We enjoyed this task and found it difficult to identify the right likelihood of a situation. The purpose of this activity is to understand how likely a risk is to happen by knowing the circumstances of a situation.

LI: to assess the likelihood.

T2W1 - Reading - ANZAC

The history of ANZAC

ANZAC is short for Australia and New Zealand Army corps.
They were called in along side the British and French to attack the turks at Gallipoli to help lower the pressure on Russian forces who were fighting the Germans.

The ANZAC's landed at Gaba tepe where they would try to take the peninsula while fighting the Ottoman forces.
8556 New Zealanders landed at what would now be named the ANZAC cove of which 7447 were killed or wounded.

In memory of the ANZACs, we stand at dawn on April 25th every year remembering them.

T2W1 - INFORM Number Bonds

A number bond is when 2 numbers are added to make a whole number.

The whole number we worked with was 10.
The number bonds for 10 are 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 4 and 6 and 5 and 5.

To help you learn the number bonds to 10, you can make a Tens frame and use it to make a  number bonds rainbow.

My number bond rainbow is on my bedroom door.

Tuesday 5 May 2020

T2W2 Math - Number Bonds Animation

Today I made a animation about number bonds to 10. I used my Tens frame, counters and my mums phone to make the animation. It was hard but then I got the hang of it.
I made the title and theme for the slides. Then I worked on the photos.

I started with the 1 + 9 bond and took 6 photos of the counters moving closer and closer to the tens frame. I then added each photo to a slide in the right order and changed the slides auto advanced (when played) settings to every 2 seconds so it would change the slides fast to make the animated effect. When that looked good, I moved on to the next bond and so on.

Making the animation was fun when it wasnt hard.
